About US

TEARS is a social organisation dedicated to helping street children regain joy, security, and dignity in their lives. Founded a few years ago, the organisation began its work by reaching out to children living on Railway Patforms who faced extreme poverty, exploitation, and social stigma.

TEARS operates a day-care centre just opposite Howrah Railway Station (Riverside). Here, we care for street children struggling with substance addiction around the station and work tirelessly to bring them back into the mainstream of society. We firmly believe that, with persistent support and encouragement, these children can rebuild their lives and contribute positively to the community—an effort that also helps reduce antisocial influences in society.

Much of this progress has been made possible through the dedication of Smt. Gita Routh (General Secretary) whose determination and service have inspired real change. Today, several children who once lived on the streets have transformed their lifestyles and now help guide and mentor other vulnerable children at our Drop-In Centre in Howrah.

Beyond Howrah, TEARS also supports over 100 children in Uttarpara Khaldhar, where we provide education, nutritious meals,

love, and care to help them grow into healthy, confident, and responsible young individuals.
